Bullying and Well-being
The Mary Foundation’s first focus area was Bullying and Well-being. We quickly recognised that the battle against social isolation is also a battle against bullying, because bullying is all about exposing and excluding.
At The Mary Foundation, we have decided to prevent bullying through improved well-being. We believe that strong children’s communities provide the best opportunities to circumvent bullying and become part of the group – for all children.
This approach has resulted in several projects, among others: Free of Bullying, BookFun and Antibulli. All projects aim to strengthen children’s sense of being part of a community, so that all children can feel they belong.
UN Sustainable Development Goals, SDG 4
Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Learning and well-being go hand in hand, which is why our work to ensure children thrive and are able to access their communities can be seen as contributing to SDG 4.
In a Danish context, a “high quality childcare facility” should be considered as one where all children feel welcome, accepted and valued. We regard targets 4.1, 4.2 and 4.6 to be particularly relevant to the Foundation’s work.
